power from on high

I wanted to pass on the lyrics to a song that I wrote several months ago. I still don't like the melody, which is why you won't find a link to me singing it on Youtube. But, I have often been encouraged by the lyrics and so decided to post them for the benefit of any who might stumble across them.

Chorus
There is power from on high
For those who are lowly
The children who know me
And look for my return

How I love to supply
The humble who hear me
The faithful who fear me
With that for which they yearn

Oh, when will you learn
To wait for power from on high?

Verse 1
Though I'm leaving you now, don't be troubled
For I go to prepare you a place
When I come back our joy will be doubled
Once again we will see face to face

In the meantime I'm sending a Helper
Who will guide you and teach you the truth
When you're lost look to Him and find shelter
He will come make His dwelling in you
Yes, He will come make His dwelling in you

Repeat Chorus

Verse 2
Now I send you like sheep into danger
Where the wolves wait to wrip you apart
In this world you are aliens and strangers
So above all you must guard your heart

If you ask me I'll clothe you in armor
With a breastplate, a belt, and some boots
I will give you a shield and a helmet
And the sword of the Spirit of truth
You'll need the sword of the Spirit of truth

Bridge
And if you wait for my Spirit and walk in my Word
You may ask what you wish and you will be heard
If you wait for my Spirit and walk in my Word
You may ask what you wish and you will be heard

Repeat Chorus

powerful words, nick. i'm eager to hear the melody. (ever think of making a CD? maybe with dominique someday :)
makes me ponder, when will i learn? when i will i get it - to be dependent on the Lord for everything?! it is sweet though (often bittersweet, it seems) to experience this. seems like trials and weakness in character are often the greatest blessings - gifts that point us to His power... such backwards thinking. such despearate crying, "i do not know how to love this person!" - and yet this is the best place to be, leaning on Him...
and how hard to wait!
how true, the wolves wanting to tear us apart - the evil one seeking to destroy. sometimes i get tired... for he does not give up easily. atacking, attacking - the time i spend putting on the armor is really the most valuable time of all.
